Your tasks
- To analyze in depth the cellular innate immune responses in the retina
- To assess retinal structure and vasculature using ocular imaging
- To investigate immunomodulatory strategies to treat retinal degeneration by knockdown and overexpression approaches
Your Profile
- Candidates should hold a master's degree in biology, biomedicine, neuroscience, or a related subject.
- Candidates should be highly motivated and self-organized with a strong interest in retinal cell biology, neuroimmunology and experimental ophthalmology.
- Experiences with animal models, cell culture techniques, molecular biology techniques and histology are advantageous.

The Chair of Experimental Immunology of the Eye is an independent division of the Deparment of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Cologne with a strong research focus on innate immune activation in the diseased retina. The laboratory is a leading institution for experimental immunology centered around age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and rare monogenetic retinal dystrophies including retinitis pigmentosa.
