PostDoc in gene edited immunotherapies (f/m/x)

Institute for Translational Immune-Oncology

Your tasks

We are looking for a motivated scientist to develop immunotherapies against cancer:

  • Create innovative approaches to generate gene-edited cells against cancer
  • Work with human T cells, NK cells, stem cells, myeloid cells
  • Develop in vitro assays and mouse cancer models for preclinical validations
  • Supervise PhD, master and medical students
  • Prepare reports, manuscripts, grants and presentations for conferences
  • Participate in the routine organization and administration of a scientific laboratory

Your profile

  • The successful candidate should have completed advanced studies (Masters, MD, Veterinary or PhDstudies) in the bio-medical field
  • Laboratory skills in molecular biology (cloning, gene editing and gene expression analyses)
  • Strong know-how about immunological techniques (FACS, ELISA and cytotoxic assays)
  • Qualifications and experience for handling mice (FELASA B certification or equivalent)
  • Competence in using hardware and software tools for text generation, data analyses and documentation (MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Prism-Graphpad, flowjo, etc)
  • Excellent English and German communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Team leadership, ability to organize, prioritize, solve problems reliably and efficiently

Your future in detail

Our newly created Institute for Translational Immune-Oncology (Director Prof. Renata Stripecke) within the Clinic I for Internal Medicine (Director Prof. Michael Hallek) and at the Cancer Center Cologne Essen (CCCE) will be located in a new cutting-edge research building with outstanding research environment and support. The mission of the Stripecke lab is to develop innovative gene- and cell therapies against cancer from the bench to the bedside. The candidate will be trained to develop an independent scientific project with publications and funding. The Institute will foster interactions with local, national and international academic and biotech network for future career development in immune-oncology.
