Your tasks

We have an open postdoctoral position in our new ?Tumor and Metastasis Microenvironment" surgical oncology laboratory (Head: Prof. Thomas Schmidt, MD, PhD) . Our laboratory currently moves into the newly built TRIO (Translational Research for Infectious Diseases and Oncology) research building which houses several research groups of the Center of Integrated Oncology (CIO) and is directly connected to the established CMMC research building. The lab in the TRIO will represent an additional lab site of our Department Surgery (Head: Prof. Christiane J. Bruns, MD)

The research within the surgical laboratory located at the TRIO building focusses on the interaction of the tumor microenvironment with the tumor cells in both the primary tumor as well as the metastatic site. Using state of the art in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo models as well as primary patients derived material, we aim to identify novel cancer-promoting mechanisms in the tumor microenvironment. The aim is to identify novel targets for therapeutic intervention.

We are offering an interesting and challenging field of work as well as an excellent work environment in a dynamic and growing team with a very close connection to the clinics, which works closely with national as well as international collaboration partners in academics.

Your Profile

We are looking forward to receiving applications from highly motivated scientists. Applicants should hold a Master in biology or a related field as well as a PhD in this scientific area, with a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should ideally have a background in cancer biology, cell culture, as well as animal application writing and in vivo (mouse) experience including FELASA B or C certificate. Knowledge in molecular biology techniques such as isolation of nucleic acids (RNA, DNA), cDNA synthesis, Western blot, qRT-PCR and CRISPR/Cas9 and additional experience in working with primary samples and single cell sequencing technologies are positively valued.

The candidate should be driven to develop a project and be a reliable team player working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary and multinational team as well as with other research groups. Excellent communication skills for scientific discussion are indispensable and proficiency in English is mandatory.

Full applications should include curriculum vitae, a letter of motivation, certificates, expected availability date, a list of publications and 2 references.
